While those who are already using Siri on iPhone are pleased to have it on Mac, there are others who do not want Siri on their Mac. Whatever maybe the case, you will find below the steps to both Enable and Disable Siri on your Mac.
How to Enable Siri On Mac
Siri was first introduced by Apple in October 2011 as an exciting new feature on iPhone 4s. After that Siri made it to Apple Watch, Apple TV and finally to Mac via the recent MacOS Sierra update.
In case you are among those who like using Apple’s Digital Assistant, you can enable Siri on your Mac by following the steps below.
1. Click on the Apple menu in the top menu bar of your Mac and then click on System Preferences… in the drop-down menu.
2. On the System Preferences screen, click on the Siri icon.
3. On the next screen, check the little box next to Enable Siri (See image below)
Note: On this screen, you can change Siri’s language, Siri’s voice and Gender.
4. Next, you will see a pop-up asking you Whether You want to Enable Siri, click on Enable Siri button (See image above)
5. Now you can close System Preferences Window.
How to Access Siri On Mac
Once you have enabled Siri on Mac, you can access Siri at any time by using any of these methods.
1. To access Siri from the top Menu bar, click on the Siri icon located at the top right corner of your screen (See image below)
2. Siri icon is prominently displayed in the Dock of your Mac, which makes it really convenient to Access Siri by clicking on the Siri Icon (See image below).
3. You can also access Siri by pressing the Command + Space Bar key combination.
After accessing Siri you can use Siri to look for any information on the internet, Search Files, Make Skype Calls and more.
Disable Siri On Mac
In case you do not like using Siri, you can easily disable Siri on your Mac by following the steps below.
1. Click on the Apple menu in the top menu bar of your Mac and then click on System Preferences… in the drop-down menu.
2. On the System Preferences screen, click on the Siri icon.
3. On the next screen, uncheck the little box next to Enable Siri.
4. Close System Preferences Window.
When Siri is disabled, the Siri icon in the top Menu bar of your Mac will be removed and the Siri service is completely removed on your Mac.
However, the Siri icon in the Dock will still remain visible and this is designed to allow you to quickly re-enable Siri at any time by clicking on the Siri icon and then clicking on Enable Siri button in the pop-up.
