If you are sending a photo with iMessage and the send button or link color is blue then your problem is likely to be due to one of the following reasons:

Network Issues: iMessage uses an internet connection to send messages and if you are disconnected from the internet your messages will not be sent.

Check to see if you are disconnected from the internet by opening up Safari and searching for something in Google. If you are unable to do so then there is a problem with your internet or your network settings.

Server Issues: Check the iMessage system status using this (link), because sometimes Apple’s servers go down and create iMessage outages.

In case the server is down, your only option is to wait for sometime and recheck the server status using above link.

If none of the problems listed above apply to you then you can try the solutions listed below.

Restart Your iPhone

This simplest solution that you must always try is to restart your iPhone. Once your iPhone has restarted, check to see if you are able to send a picture message.

If your phone cannot send pictures via your Cellphone carrier then you need to the following methods.

Make Sure MMS is Turned On

Your iPhone most likely cannot send picture messages because MMS has not yet been turned on in the settings of your device.

Follow the steps below, to turn on MMS or to check if MMS is turned on.

  1. Open up Settings, then tap on Messages
  2. Locate MMS Messaging option and check whether or not it is turned on
  3. If MMS Messaging is turned off then toggle it on using the slider

If MMS is turned on then the problem is likely with your carrier. You will now need to call your carrier to check and see if your Cellphone plan covers picture messages.

Check Network Strength

Another common reason as to why your phone cannot send picture messages is due to weak cellular network. This could be happening if you are in an underground place or a subway.

Try moving out of your current location and check the top left corner of your phone to see if the network strength has improved.

Reset The Network

If none of the solutions above have helped you then you should try resetting you network by following the steps below.

1. Open up Settings and then tap on General

2. Tap on Reset

3. Next tap on Reset Network settings

4. Confirm you want to reset by tapping on Reset Network Settings

5. Once finished resetting network settings try sending your picture message again
