Get Out of Safe Mode in Windows 10
When a Windows computer is booted in Safe Mode, it starts only with the most essential system files and drivers, allowing you to identify programs or drivers causing problems on your computer.
In an ideal situation, you should be able to get out of Safe Mode in Windows 10 by simply restarting your computer, whenever you are done using the computer in Safe Mode.
However, this does not always happen, especially if you booted your computer into Safe Mode using System configuration tool. Also, in certain cases, the computer gets stuck in Safe Mode, even if an attempt is made to restart the computer.
Hence, we are providing below 4 different methods to get out of safe mode in Windows 10.
1. Use System Configuration
In case your computer is repeatedly booting into Safe Mode, it is likely that the Safe Boot Option in System Configuration screen is enabled on your computer.
1. Right click on Start button and then click on the Run option in the menu that appears.
Note: You can also press Win + R keys to get to Run Command Window.
2. On the Run Command Window, type msconfig and click on OK.
3. On the System Configuration screen, uncheck the option for Safe Boot (See image below)
Now, Restart your computer and it will boot in normal mode.
2. Restart With Shift Key
In case the F8 key method is not applicable in your case, there is another way to get out of safe mode in Windows 10.
1. Click on the Start button > Power button icon > hold down the Shift Key on the keyboard of your computer and then click on Restart.
2. On the next screen, click on the Troubleshoot option.
3. Next, click on Advanced options > Startup Settings > click on Restart.
4. Your computer will now reboot with various startup options, press the Enter Key and your computer will be out of Safe Mode.
3. Use Command Prompt
1. Right-click on the Start button and then click on Command Prompt.
2. In the command prompt window, type bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot and hit the enter key.
3. Now, restart your computer and it should be out of Safe Mode.
4. Restart With F8 Key
In case you have upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 or Windows 8, you should be able to use the F8 key to get out of Safe Mode in Windows 10.
1. Press the Power button and wait for your computer to completely shut down.
2. Now, press the Power button and immediately keep pressing the F8 key repeatedly.
3. Once the Advanced Boot Options menu comes up, choose the option to Start Windows Normally.
Note: This method only works on computers using BIOS firmware.
