Play YouTube Videos in Background on iPhone using YouTube in Background (YTB) App
The easiest way to play YouTube videos in background is by making use of an app called YouTube in Background.
1. Download YouTube in Background (YTB) App from the App Store
2. Once the app has been downloaded, open YouTube in Background app on your iPhone or iPad.
3. Next, search for the Video that you want to play in Background on your iPhone and start playing the YouTube Video that you want to play in the background
4. Once the Video Starts playing, simply close the YTB App and the video will continue to play in the background (Do not force quit the app, otherwise the video will stop playing).
Play YouTube Videos in Background on iPhone Using Dolphin Browser
In this method, we are going to make use of a web browser known as “Dolphin” in order to play YouTube videos in background on your iPhone or iPad.
1. Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for Dolphin Browser.
2. Next, download and Install the Dolphin Brower on your iPhone or iPad.
3. Open the Dolphin browser on your iPhone or iPad.
4. Once the Dolphin browser is open on your iPhone or iPad, visit youtube.com using Dolphin Browser and search for the video that you want to play in background on your iPhone or iPad.
Note: Tap on Cancel, in case you are prompted to open the YouTube App.
5. Next, start playing the video on your iPhone/iPad.
6. Once the video starts playing, close the Dolphin browser window (Do not force quit it)
7. After closing the browser, swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone’s screen to open Control Center and then tap on the Play button.
Play YouTube Videos in Background on iPhone Using Opera Browser
1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Next, Download & Install the Opera browser from the App store
3. Open the Opera browser on your iOS device and visit youtube.com
Note: Tap on Cancel, in case you are prompted to open the YouTube App.
4. Now search for the video that you want to play in the background
5. Next, start playing the video on your iPhone or iPad.
6. Once the video starts playing, close the Dolphin browser (Do not force quit it)
7. After closing the browser, swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone’s screen to open Control Center and then tap on the Play button (See image below).

The procedure to Play YouTube Videos in Background using Chrome Browser is a bit longer than the steps to Play YouTube Videos in Background on iPhone using Dolphin and Opera browsers.
Download & Install the Chrome browser on your iPhone or iPad (in case you haven’t already done so) and follow the steps below to Make YouTube Videos Play in Background on your iPhone or iPad
1. Open the Chrome Browser on your iPhone or iPad and go to youtube.com.
Note: Tap on Cancel, in case you are prompted to open YouTube in the YouTube App.
2. Next, open the Video that you want to play in the background.
3. Next, tap on the 3-dot Menu icon located at the top right corner of your screen and then tap on Request Desktop Site from the dropdown menu (See image below).
4. Once the desktop version of YouTube opens on your iPhone, start playing the video.
Note: If the video does not play, try skipping to the middle of the video and once it starts playing, go back to the start of the video
5. Once you have the video playing in Chrome browser, exit Chrome browser.
6. Next, swipe up from the bottom of your screen to launch control center and then tap on the Play button (See image below)
Play YouTube Videos in Background on iPhone using Firefox Browser
Follow the steps below to make YouTube Videos Play in Background on your iPhone or iPad using the Firefox browser.
1. From the App Store, Download the Firefox browser onto your iPhone or iPad.
2. Open Firefox browser on your iPhone or iPad.
Note: Tap on Cancel, in case you are prompted to open the YouTube App.
3. Go to youtube.com and open the Video that you want to play in background on your iPhone.
4. Next, tap on the 3-line menu icon located at the bottom of your screen (See image below)
5. On the slide-up menu, tap on Request Desktop site (See image below)
6. Once the desktop version of YouTube opens on your iPhone, start playing the video.
