How to Reinstall WhatsApp on Android Phone

You may find the need to Reinstall WhatsApp, if the current installation of WhatsApp on your Android Phone is not working properly and appears to be broken or corrupted.

The solution in such cases is to delete the corrupted installation of WhatsApp and reinstall the latest stable version of WhatsApp back on your Android phone.

Reinstall WhatsApp Without Losing Messages

Since, the goal is to Reinstall WhatsApp without losing any of your messages, the first step is to Backup your WhatsApp Account to Google Drive.

After making a backup of your WhatsApp Account, you can follow the steps as provided below to remove the corrupted installation of WhatsApp and Reinstall the latest version of WhatsApp on your Android phone.

Note: Do not skip the backup process, as the backup will be required to restore your WhatsApp Account in the next steps.

1. Remove Corrupted Installation of WhatsApp

The first step is to remove the corrupted installation of WhatsApp from your Android phone.

1. Go to Settings > Applications > Application Manager.

2. From the next screen, go to WhatsApp > tap on Uninstall to delete WhatsApp from your Android Phone.

3. On the confirmation popup, tap on Uninstall to confirm.

2. Reinstall Latest Stable Version of WhatsApp

The next step is download and reinstall the latest version of WhatsApp from Google Play Store on your Android Phone and Restore WhatsApp from backup.

1. Open Google Play Store > Search for and download WhatsApp on your Android phone.

2. Once WhatsApp is downloaded, Open WhatsApp and follow the instructions to provide WhatsApp with access to your Contacts and agree to WhatsApp Terms of Service.

3. On the next screen, select Country, enter the Phone Number associated with your WhatsApp Account and tap on Next.

4. Follow the steps receive a verification code from WhatsApp and verify your phone number.

5. Once your phone number is verified, WhatsApp should automatically select the Backup that you made on Google Drive and prompt you to Restore > tap on the Restore button to Restore all your WhatsApp Messages.

6. Wait for the Restore Process to be completed > Tap on Next when you see the check mark.

7. Follow the steps to complete your Profile Information and complete the process.

That will be it! – You have successfully managed to delete and reinstall WhatsApp back on your Android phone, without losing any of your Messages.

Note: Some users have reported losing Messages and described WhatsApp Backup and Restore Process as not being 100% reliable.
