When you open websites on iPhone Safari browser, the webpages open in their own hidden browsing tabs, instead of opening in separate visible browsing windows.

While this “Tabbed browsing” feature in Safari prevents the browser from being cluttered with numerous browsing windows, it creates multiple browsing tabs, which remain hidden in the background.

Having too many browser tabs active in the background ultimately leads to excessive resource usage, which in-turn leads to slowing down of iPhone.

Hence, it is good idea to get into the habit of manually clearing Safari browsing tabs after every browsing session or setup the Safari browser on your iPhone to automatically clear browsing Tabs after a set period of time.
