Prevent Audio Messages From Getting Deleted On iPhone

In order to prevent Audio Messages from being deleted on iPhone, the first step is to disable the default iPhone settings to automatically delete the Audio Message after just 2 minutes.

Once this is done, the next step is to select your desired longer Auto-deletion period for Messages on your iPhone, including the Audio Messages.

Step 1. Prevent Audio Messages from Being Deleted After 2 Minutes

1. Go to Settings > Messages.

2. On the messages screen, scroll down to “Audio Messages” section and tap on Expire.

3. On the next screen, select the Never option.

This setting ensures that Audio messages remain available on your are device and they are not automatically deleted after 2 minutes.

However, setting the “Expire” Settings for Audio Messages to “Never” does not really mean that Audio Messages will remain forever on your device.

They will still be automatically deleted by iPhone, based on your Message History Settings for the Messages app on your iPhone.

Step 2. Select Audio Message Auto-Deletion Period

Follow the steps below to keep both Audio & Text Messages on your device forever or set them to be automatically deleted by iPhone after a set period of time.

1. Go to Settings > Messages.

2. On the next screen, scroll down and tap on Keep Messages option, located under Message History Section.

3. On the next screen, select the Period upto which you want both Text and Audio Messages to remain available on your iPhone.

If you select 30 Days or 1 Year, the Audio Messages will remain available on your iPhone for your selected duration, after which they will be automatically deleted.

If you select the “Forever” option, the Audio Messages will always remain available on your iPhone, until you decide to manually remove them from your device.
