If required, you can change Microsoft Edge Download Location to Desktop or make Microsoft Edge browser to Ask for download location, every-time you download anything on your computer.
Change Microsoft Edge Download Folder Location
By default, Microsoft Edge browser automatically saves all downloaded files to “Downloads” folder in your User Account.
For example, if the User Account Name is ‘George’, Microsoft Edge browser will be saving downloaded files to Downloads folder located at path C:\Users\george\Downloads.
However, this may not be suitable for everyone and you may want to see all your downloaded files and images right on your desktop or saved to a USB Drive.
Another option which provides more flexibility is to make Microsoft Edge browser to ask you where to save the downloaded files.
1. Make Microsoft Edge Browser Ask Download Location
As mentioned above, you can make Edge browser to prompt you to select the storage location for the file that you are trying to download.
Open Microsoft Edge browser > click on 3-dots menu icon and select Settings in the drop-down menu.
On the Settings screen, select Downloads in the left-pane. In the right-pane, move the toggle next to Ask me what to do with each download to ON position.
After this change, you will find Microsoft Edge browser prompting you to select Download Location, everytime you download a file on your computer.
2. Change Microsoft Edge Download Location to Desktop
There are users who prefer to see the downloaded files on the desktop, instead of being hidden in the Downloads Folder.
Open Microsoft Edge browser > click on 3-dots menu icon and select Settings in the drop-down menu.
On the Settings screen, select Downloads in the left-pane. In the right-pane, click on the Change option, next to Location.
On the next screen, select Desktop as the Location for Downloads on your computer.
After this change, you will always find downloaded files landing right on the desktop of your computer.
