How to Show Remaining Battery Time in Windows 11/10

By: Sam Patwegar | Updated: July 12, 2025

In case you are interested, it is possible to make your computer show remaining battery life in hours, instead of the default Battery Icon setting that shows remaining Battery life in percentage.

In-fact, the earlier versions of Windows provided battery life in real time, showing an approximate estimate of the time the battery on the laptop is going to last.

However, this setting was removed in the later versions of Windows, based on the reasoning that the indicated battery time remaining on a computer could fluctuate, depending on how the computer was being used.

Since, the option to show battery life in terms of “time” or expected number of hours remaining has been removed, the only way to make a Windows 11/10 to show the remaining battery life in “hours” is by editing the Registry.
