Apparently, iPad Pro has been designed for business and professional use, while iPad is meant for average consumers.

Processor & RAM

  • iPad – 2.34 GHZ Quad Core, 2 GB RAM
  • iPad Pro – 2.38 GHZ Six Core, 4 GB RAM

iPad comes with Apple’s A10 processor which is rated to run up to 2.34 GHZ speed. In comparison iPad Pro is equipped with a A10x processor which is a variant of the A10 processor.

iPad Pro is equipped with 4 GB RAM, which will allow it to handle multitasking, video editing and other RAM intensive processes in a better way, compared to iPad.

Display

  • iPad – 9.7 ” – 2048 x 1536, 264 ppi
  • iPad Pro – 10.5″ – 2224 x 1668, 264 ppi

As you can see from above, both iPad and iPad Mini have the similar Retina display which exceeds HD quality.

While the display on both models of iPad is coated with Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating, the display on iPad Pro is also coated with an Antireflective coating.

Battery

  • iPad – 32.4 Watt-hour
  • iPad Pro – 30.4 Watt-hour

Both iPad and iPad Pro have similar sized rechargeable Lithium ion batteries. Although, the battery on iPad is a little bigger than that on iPad Pro, there is practically not much difference in battery life.

According to Apple, the practical battery life on both iPad and iPad Pro is 10 hours on a single full charge.

Storage

  • iPad – 32, 128 GB
  • iPad Pro – 64, 264, 512 GB

iPad is available in 32 and 128 GB versions, while iPad Pro is available in 64, 264 and even 512 GB storage.

Rear Camera

  • iPad – 8MP, f/2.4, 1080 HD Video
  • iPad Pro – 12 MP, f/1.8, 4k HD Video

Going by above specs, the rear-facing camera on iPad Pro (f/1.8) should be able to capture more detail and perform better in low light conditions.

The 8MP Camera on iPad records videos in 1080p HD quality, while the camera on iPad Pro is capable for recording 4k HD quality videos.

Other features supported by the camera on iPad Pro are Optical image stabilization, live photos with stabilization and Auto HDR for photos.

Conclusion

Both iPad and iPad Pro support Apple Pencil and can be equipped with Smart/Bluetooth keyboards and clearly there are not many features that can differentiate the two models of iPad.

In general, it can be concluded that iPad Pro due to its A10X processor and 4 GB RAM should be able to do things a little faster, compared to iPad.
