How to Use Signal Without Phone Number

By: Sam Patwegar | Updated: August 25, 2025

If you are looking for a way to use Signal Without Phone Number, it is likely that you are thinking in terms of using it on a secondary mobile device that does not have its own phone number or SIM Card installed on it.

Apart from this, there are users who may want to use Signal on a primary mobile device, company provided phone or business use phone, without associating their main phone number or business phone number with Signal Account.

Use Signal Without Phone Number

All that is required to use Signal on a mobile device without phone number is to verify your Signal Account by using a Landline Phone Number or a Virtual Phone Number.

Once your Signal Account is verified, the virtual phone number is no longer required and it is not at all used by Signal to send/receive messages and make/receive phone calls.

The same solution is applicable, if you want to use Signal on your primary mobile device, company provided phone or business use phone, without using your primary, company provided or business phone number.

1. Verify Signal Using Landline Phone Number

Based on our testing, the best way to use Signal on an iPhone or Android Phone that does not have a phone number or SIM card installed on it is to verify Signal using a Landline phone number.

1. Download Signal Private Messenger from Google Play Store (Android Phone) and from App Store (iPhone).

2. Once the download is completed, open the Signal App and follow the instructions to Install Signal Messenger on your mobile device.

3. When prompted, provide Signal with the permission to send notifications and access your Contacts.

4. On the next screen, select Country > enter your Landline Phone Number and tap on Next.

Enter Phone Number

5. On the next screen, wait for 60 seconds and tap on I didn’t get a code.

7. Receive the automated call from Signal on your Landline > Note down your Six-digit verification code and enter the Code on the next screen to verify your Landline phone number.

Enter Signal Verification Code

Once your Landline Phone Number is verified, you can start using Signal Messenger on your iPhone or Android Phone, even if it does not have its own Phone Number or SIM Card installed on it.

2. Verify Signal Using Virtual Phone Number

If you do not have a Landline Phone Number, you can make use of a virtual phone number as provided by TextNow, TextFree, Google Voice and other VoIP providers to verify your Signal Account.

For the steps to get Virtual Phone Number, you can refer to this guide: How to Get Virtual Phone Number (Free & Paid).
