How to Enable And Disable Automatic App Updates on iPhone

The Auto Update feature in App Store is designed to automatically update Apps installed on your device. You can find below the steps to Enable or Disable Automatic App Updates on iPhone.

Enable or Disable Automatic App Store Updates on iPhone

The advantage of Enabling Automatic App Store Updates on iPhone is that it keeps your device up-to-date with the latest updates, without the need to manually check and install App updates on your device.

This feature on iPhone can be useful for those who do not have the time to manually update Apps and also for those who usually tend to forget things.

However, the disadvantage of enabling Automatic App Store Updates is that you do not really have any control over when updates are being downloaded and installed on your device.

This can sometimes result in iPhone being busy with updates and becoming unusable, just when you want to use it. Hence, the App Store App on iPhone provides the option to both Enable and Disable Automatic App Updates.

1. Get Automatic App Updates on iPhone

All that is required to get Automatic app updates on iPhone is to switch on the Auto Update option in App Store Settings on your device.

1. Open Settings on your iPhone > scroll down and tap on App Store.

2. On the next screen, move the toggle next to App Updates under “Automatic Downloads” section to ON position.

Optionally, you can enable the option to use Cellular Data for Auto Updates. However, most users prefer to keep this option disabled, in order to save Cellualar Data.

2. Turn OFF Automatic App Updates on iPhone

If you prefer to have more control over App updates, you can switch OFF Auto Updates on your iPhone.

1. Open Settings > scroll down and tap on App Store.

2. On the next screen, move the toggle next to Updates to OFF position.

Disable Automatic App Updates on iPhone

After this, you will no longer find iPhone automatically downloading updates. This allows you to manually download updates, whenever you have the time to install updats on your device.
