There is really no way to open Locked Notes on iPhone or iPad if you have forgotten the Notes App Password. The only way out in this case is to Reset Notes Password on iPhone.
Reset Notes Password On iPhone
The Notes App on iPhone allows you to Lock Notes with Password, providing an additional layer of security for Notes containing personal or confidential information.
However, the Notes Password is not the same as your Lock screen password, which increases the chances of forgetting Notes Password, especially if you are not using Notes on a regular basis.
As mentioned above, there is really no way to open Locked Notes on iPhone, without knowing the Password that was used to Lock Notes on your device.
The only option, if you cannot remember the Password to unlock Notes is to Reset Notes Password. Unfortunately, this does not unlock any of the previously Locked Notes on your device.
To make this clear, all the Notes that you had previously protected using Notes Password will continue to be locked with the same old forgotten Password and you won’t be able to access them.
1. Reset Notes Password On iPhone
Follow the steps below to Reset Notes Password on iPhone or iPad.
1. Open Settings on your iPhone > scroll down and tap on Notes.
2. On the Notes screen, tap on Password.
3. On the next screen, tap on On My iPhone.
4. On the next screen, tap on Reset Password option.
5. When prompted, enter your Lock Screen Password.
6. On the confirmation pop-up, tap on Reset Password option.
7. On the next screen, you can setup New Notes Password or tap on Cancel, in case you do not want to Lock Notes with Password.
This will Reset the Notes Password on iPhone and all the New Notes that you create from now onwards will be protected with the New Password.
As mentioned above, previously created Notes will continue to retain the same old Password and you won’t be able to access them using the New Notes Password.
2. Reset iCloud Notes Password On iPhone
If the Notes are located on iCloud, you can follow the steps below to Reset iCloud Notes Password on iPhone.
1. Go to Settings > Notes > tap on Password.
2. On the Password screen, tap on iCloud.
3. On the next screen, tap on Reset Password option.
5. When prompted, enter your Apple ID Password and tap on OK.
6. On the confirmation pop-up, tap on Reset Password to confirm.
7. On the next screen, you can either set up New Notes Password or tap on Cancel.
This will Reset iCloud Notes Password for all the Notes on iCloud.
Note: The Notes App Password Reset will be reflected across all your Apple Devices, in case you are using iCloud Notes or iCloud Keychain.
