Something Went Wrong YouTube Error on iPhone
In general, users have reported seeing a blank screen followed by an error message reading “Something Went Wrong. Tap to retry” Error Message.
When you follow the instructions and Tap to Retry, either nothing happens and the error message continues to stay or the video tries to refresh and “Something Went Wrong” error message appears back again.
1. Enable/Disable Airplane Mode
Enabling/Disabling Airplane Mode resets wireless antennas and helps in fixing the problem, if it is due to network connectivity issues.
Open Settings and move the slider next to Airplane Mode to ON position.
After 15 seconds, disable Airplane Mode by moving the toggle to OFF position.
Now, try to use the Safari browser on your iPhone and see if you are able to browse normally.
2. Restart iPhone
Make sure that you restart your device, in order to rule out the possibility of the problem being due to a stuck process, preventing the YouTube video from playing.
Go to Settings > General > scroll down and tap on Shut Down. On the next screen, use the Slider to Power OFF iPhone.
Wait for 30 seconds and press the Power button to Restart iPhone.
3. Update iPhone
Make sure that your iPhone is up-to-date with the latest updates.
Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
On the next screen, wait for iPhone to search for available updates and tap on the Update option (if an update is available).
4. Update YouTube App
It is possible that Google has released an update to fix an ongoing problem or a glitch in YouTube App.
Open the App Store on your iPhone and tap on the Account Icon.
2. On the next screen, tap on Update All option to Update All Apps or tap on the Update option next to YouTube to Update to Update YouTube.
Note: Update option will only be available, if an update is available for any of the Apps installed on your device.
5. Reset Network Settings
Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > On the pop-up, select Reset Network Settings.
If prompted, enter your Lock Screen Password > On the confirmation pop-up, tap on Reset Network Settings to confirm.
6. Remove & Reinstall YouTube
Tap and Hold on YouTube Icon on Home Screen and select the Delete App option in the contextual menu.
On the confirmation pop-up, tap on the Delete option to confirm.
After the App is removed, open the App Store on your iPhone > search for and Download YouTube App on your iPhone.
Once the download is complete, tap on Open and follow the instructions to Reinstalling WhatsApp on your iPhone.
