Now that you are a proud owner of Apple’s latest model of iPhone, the next step is to transfer all your data from old iPhone to New iPhone.
Transfer Data From Old to New iPhone
Migrating from an old iPhone to New iPhone is easy, but you do need to make sure that you are not forgetting anything and the process goes smoothly.
The first and the most important step to migrate from Old to New iPhone is to make a Backup of your existing iPhone.
Depending on your preference, you can either download a complete backup of iPhone to computer using iTunes or go for an iCloud Backup – Difference Between iCloud and iTunes Backup of iPhone
After making a backup of your current iPhone, the next step is transfer Data from Old to New iPhone by Restoring the New iPhone from Backup.
You will find below the steps to Transfer Data from iPhone to iPhone using both iCloud and iTunes.
1. Transfer Data From Old iPhone to New iPhone Using iCloud
The easiest way to transfer Data from iPhone to iPhone is to manually backup old iPhone to iCloud and Restore the New iPhone from the iCloud Backup.
1. Open Settings and tap on your Apple ID.
2. Next, tap on iCloud > iCloud Backup > Backup Now.
3. Wait for the Backup process to be completed. If the battery is low, connect iPhone for Charging.
4. After the iCloud Backup is completed, take out the SIM Card from old iPhone and insert it into the New iPhone
5. Turn on the New iPhone and it will open with the “Hello” Screen.
6. From the Hello screen, follow the onscreen instructions, until you reach the WiFi screen.
7. Enter the Password for your WiFi Network and following the instructions, until you reach “Apps and Data” screen.
8. On Apps and Data screen, tap on Restore from iCloud Backup option.
Note: You will be prompted to sign-in to iCloud Account using your Apple ID and Password.
9. When prompted, select the iCloud Backup that you just made.
10. Wait for the Restore process to be completed and follow the remaining onscreen instructions to complete setup process.
Note: The time to complete iCloud Backup and Restore Process will depend on the amount of data available in your iPhone.
2. Transfer Data From iPhone to iPhone Using iTunes
If you have Third Party Apps, Music and Books, you can go for a complete backup of iPhone using iTunes and Transfer Data to New iPhone using iTunes.
1. Connect iPhone to computer using its supplied cable.
2. If you are using Mac, select your iPhone in the side-menu. If you are using Windows computer, open iTunes and click on the Phone icon as it appears under the top-menu bar in iTunes.
3. Click on the Summary tab in side-menu. In the right-pane, scroll down to “Backups” section > select This Computer and click on Backup Now button.
Note: Select Encrypt Local Backup option, if you also want to save your Health and Activity Data.
If you select Encrypted Backup, you will be prompted to create a Password, which you need to remember in order to access the backup during the Restore Process.
4. After the Backup process is completed, take out the SIM Card from Old iPhone and insert it into the New iPhone.
5. Turn on the New iPhone and it will open with the “Hello” Screen.
6. From the Hello screen, follow the onscreen instructions > Enter WiFi Network Password and follow the instructions, until you reach “Apps and Data” screen.
7. On the “Apps & Data” screen, tap on Restore from iTunes Backup
8. Now, plug your New iPhone into the Computer using its supplied cable.
9. If you are using Mac, select your iPhone in the side-menu. If you are using Windows computer, open iTunes and click on the Phone icon, as it appears under top-menu bar in iTunes.
10. On the next screen, click on the Summary tab in left-pane. In the right-pane, click on Restore Backup button, located under “Manually Back Up and Restore” section.
11. On the pop-up, select the iTunes backup located on your computer and click on the Restore button.
Note: If you had made an encrypted iTunes backup, you will be prompted to enter the password to access the encrypted backup file.
12. Patiently Wait for the Restore process to be completed and follow the remaining onscreen instructions to complete the Setup process of your New iPhone.
Once you complete the above steps, your New iPhone will have almost all the data that was available on your old iPhone.
