In general, the problem of Apple Music Pausing or Disconnecting on iPhone has been reported while listening to Music with iPhone placed in the pocket and connected to Bluetooth Headphones.
However, this problem can also occur due to network connectivity issues, glitch in Music App, Apple’s Music service going through problems and other reasons.
Apple Music Keeps Pausing or Disconnecting on iPhone
You should be able to fix the problem of Apple Music frequently pausing or disconnecting from iPhone using the following troubleshooting steps.
1. Restart iPhone
If the problem is occurring due to a glitch in Music App or a stuck process, it can be fixed by restarting your device.
1. Go to Settings > General > scroll down and tap on Shut Down.
2. On the next screen, use the Slider to power OFF iPhone.
Allow iPhone to completely Shut Down > After 30 seconds, restart your device and see if Apple Music is now working properly on your iPhone.
2. Check Apple Music Service Status
It is not uncommon for Apple services to suffer from outages or become temporarily disabled to fix problems. This can be confirmed by going to Apple System Status Page and checking the status of Apple Music.
If there is a problem, you will see Red Colored Dot or Red Colored explanatory note next to Apple Music.
4. Install Updates
The problem could be due to Apple Music not being updated or an iOS update waiting to be installed on your device.
1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
2. On the software update screen, tap on Download and Install (If an Update is available).
5. Disable Automatic Ear Detection
If you are using AirPods, the problem might be due to AirPods Disconnecting from iPhone due to a glitch or problem with proximity sensors.
1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth > tap on (i) icon located next to your AirPods under “My Devices” section.
2. On the next screen, disable Automatic Ear Detection by moving the toggle to OFF position.
Note: You can enable Automatic Ear Detection after the issue is fixed.
6. Enable/Disable Bluetooth
Enable & Disable Bluetooth to fix the possibility of the problem being due to Bluetooth connectivity issues.
1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth > disable Bluetooth by moving the Slider to OFF position.
2. After 30 seconds, enable Bluetooth by moving the slider to ON position.
7. Switch OFF Low Data Mode
While the Low Data Mode feature helps in reducing Cellular Data Usage, it can prevent Apps from working properly.
1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data options.
2. On the next screen, move the toggle next to Low Data Mode to OFF position.
This should help the Music App to use as much Cellular Data as required to work properly on your device.
8. Switch Off Low Power Mode
The problem might be due to Low Power Mode being accidentally or manually enabled on your device.
1. Open Settings > scroll down and tap on Battery.
2. On the next screen, move the toggle next to Low Power Mode to OFF position.
Note: Your iPhone needs to be connected for charging, if it has automatically switched to Low Power Mode.
9. Disable Siri
Users have reported fixing the issue with Apple Music by disabling Siri.
1. Open Settings > scroll down and tap on Siri & Search.
2. On the next screen, Switch OFF all options under “ASK SIRI” section.
3. On the confirmation pop-up, tap on Turn OFF Siri option to confirm.
10. Reset Network Settings
As mentioned above, the problem could be due to network connectivity issues. Hence, follow the steps below to Reset the Network Settings on your device to its original Factory default settings.
1. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
2. On the pop-up, select Reset Network Settings option.
3. When prompted, enter your Lock Screen Password > On the confirmation pop-up, select the Reset option to confirm and patiently wait for the Reset process to be completed.
After the Reset process is completed, connect your device to Wi-Fi network and you should now find Apple Music working properly on your iPhone.
