Backup WhatsApp Messages On iPhone
Before deleting WhatsApp from iPhone it is really important to backup your WhatsApp Messages on iCloud Drive by following the steps below.
1. Open WhatsApp on your iPhone.
2. Once you are in WhatsApp, tap on the Settings option from the bottom menu (See image below)
3. On WhatsApp Settings screen, tap on Chats.
4. On the Chats screen, tap on the Chat Backup option.
5. On the Chat Backup screen, tap on the Back Up Now option to start the process of backing up your WhatsApp Messages and attached Photos to iCloud Drive.
Note: The option to backup WhatsApp Videos is disabled by default on iPhone as Videos can take up a lot of space on your iCloud Account.
You can Enable the option for Include Videos, in case you want to backup WhatsApp videos attached to your Messages and you have enough storage space on your iCloud Drive account.
Useful Tip: Before making a backup, you may also want to make sure that the Backup process is taking place over a WiFi Network and not using your expensive Cellular Data.
- Tap on Settings > iCloud > iCloud Drive. and set the option for Use Cellular Data to OFF position (See image below).
Delete WhatsApp From iPhone
After making a backup of WhatsApp Messages and Photos to iCloud Drive, follow the steps below to delete WhatsApp from your iPhone.
1. Tap and Hold the WhatsApp icon on the Home Screen of your iPhone, until the WhatsApp icon and all other icons start to Wiggle and an X mark comes up near the corner of the app icons.
2. Next, tap on the X icon near the corner of WhatsApp icon
3. You will see a popup, tap on Delete to remove WhatsApp and all its data from your iPhone.
Re-download WhatsApp on iPhone
Follow the steps below to download and reinstall the latest version of WhatsApp on your iPhone.
1. Open the App Store on your iPhone
2. Once you are in the App Store, tap on the Search icon from the bottom menu.
3. Search for WhatsApp in the App Store by typing “WhatsApp” in the search bar and download WhatsApp on your iPhone.
Note: You may be prompted to login to your iTunes Account by entering your Apple ID and Password.
4. Allow WhatsApp to be downloaded to your iPhone.
Reinstall WhatsApp on iPhone
Follow the steps below to Reinstall WhatsApp on your iPhone.
1. Open WhatsApp on your iPhone.
2. On the next two screens, WhatsApp will seek permission to Access your Contacts and provide you with Notifications. Tap on Accept on both the screens.
3. Next tap on Agree & Continue, on the WhatsApp Terms and Conditions screen
4. On the next screen, select your Country, enter your Phone Number and tap on Done from the top right corner of your screen (See image below).
5. On the next screen, you will see the option to Restore From iCloud Drive, on this screen tap on Restore Chat History
6. Wait for the Restore process to be completed.
