If the “None” payment option is missing on your Apple ID billing and payment information screen, you won’t be able to create Apple ID without Credit card or remove your existing Credit card information from Apple ID.
There could be various reasons for the “None” payment option to be missing or not being made available by Apple on your Apple ID payment information screen.
Reasons for “None” Option Missing on Apple ID Screen
On its website, Apple provides the following circumstances in which the “None” payment option gets removed or becomes unavailable on Apple ID Payment information screen.
- You are using Family Sharing
- You have unpaid balance or payments due
- You have store credits in your Account
- You are subscribed to any Apple Service
- You are trying to switch App Store Country, without being located in that Country.
Once, you find out the reason for “None” payment option being unavailable, it becomes easy to Enable the missing “None” option on Apple ID Payment information screen.
1. Disable Family Sharing
A common reason for the “None” payment option being unavailable is due to the Family Sharing feature being used for Apple Music, iCloud Storage and other Apple Services.
1. Go to Settings > Apple ID Name > Family Sharing.

2. On Family Sharing screen, tap on your Name > select Family Sharing option.
3. On the next screen, tap on Stop Using Family Sharing option.

Note: If you are an organizer you will see “Stop Family Sharing” and if you are a member you will see “Leave Family Sharing” option.
2. Check Unpaid Balance and Pending Payments
You won’t see the “None” payment option, if you have an unpaid balance or payment for an Apple Service has become due.
Hence, take a look at your Purchase History and see if there is any unpaid balance in your account. Once, the unpaid balance is cleared, the “None” payment option will become available for selection.
1. Go to Settings > Apple ID Name > Media & Purchases.

2. On the pop-up, select the View Account option > Enter your Apple ID password > On the next screen, tap on Purchase History.

3. On the next screen, you will be able to see whether or not you have any pending dues.
Note: In case of Family Sharing, you won’t be able to see what other family members have bought.
3. Spend Store Credits
You won’t be able to change the App Store Country or remove Credit Card linked to your Apple ID, if there are any Store Credits remaining in your Account.
The solution in this case is to spend all the store credits by buying something on the App Store.
4. Cancel Subscriptions
If you have a subscription for an Apple Service like Apple Music or In-App subscriptions for content services like Netflix, Spotify and others, you won’t be able to access the “None” payment option.
1. Go to Settings > Apple ID Name > Subscriptions.
2. On the next screen, you will be able to see the list of subscriptions linked to your Apple ID.

Note: You need to cancel all your subscription, in order to make the “None” payment option available for selection.
5. You Are Not Located in That Country
You won’t be able see the “None” payment option, if you are trying to trying to change the App Store Country or Region without actually being present in that particular Country or Region.
For example, you won’t be able to select the “None” payment option, if you are still located in Dubai and trying the change the App Store Country to United States.
