How to Turn OFF Geotagging for Photos On iPhone

By: Sam Patwegar | Updated: January 6, 2026

While the default setting in the Camera App on iPhone is to attach Geotags (geographical coordinates) to photos, it also provides the option to Turn OFF Geotagging.

The Location Information attached to photos by the Camera App on iPhone is precise and pin-points the exact geographical location of the place where a particular photo was taken.

Hence, the most common reason for disabling geotagging for photos on iPhone is to prevent the possibility of the location of your home, place of work and places that you visit being revealed by photos that are shared on social media.
