How to Show WhatsApp Status to Specific Contacts

By: Sam Patwegar | Updated: July 17, 2025

If required, you can configure WhatsApp to show your “Status Update” only to some selected or specific Contacts in WhatsApp and prevent others from viewing your status update photos and videos.

This setup can be useful, if you are uploading photos and videos of family events or personal nature to your Status Update and you do not want them to be viewed by your other Contacts in WhatsApp.

The default setting in WhatsApp is to allow all Contacts to see your Status Update and automatically delete photos and videos uploaded to your Status Update, after a period of 24 hours.
