How to Transfer WhatsApp Photos to SD Card

If your Android Phone is equipped with SD Card, you can prevent the possibility of the local storage of your Android Device being filled up with photos by periodically transferring WhatsApp Photos to SD Card.

The other option as available on Samsung Android and certain other Android phones is to move all your WhatsApp Photos to SD Card and set SD Card as the default storage location for WhatsApp Photos on your Android device.

Transfer WhatsApp Photos to SD Card

You can find below the steps to Transfer all WhatsApp photos to SD Card by using the “Move” option as available on Samsung Android Phones.

If your Android Phone does not provide the “Move” option, you can manually transfer all or selected WhatsApp Photos to SD Card by using File Explorer.

1. Transfer All WhatsApp Photos to SD Card

If you are using Samsung Android phone, it provides the option to transfer all WhatsApp Photos to SD Card and also select SD Card as the default storage location for future WhatsApp Photos on your device.

1. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps Manager > WhatsApp.

2. On the next screen, scroll down and tap on Storage.

3. On the Storage screen, tap on the Change button located under “Used Storage” section.

4. On Change storage pop-up, select SD Card as your New Storage Location.

5. On the next screen, tap on the Move option.

Patiently wait for the transfer process to be completed and make sure that you do not remove the SD Card or interrupt the transfer process in any way.

2. Manually Transfer All or Selected WhatsApp Photos to SD Card

You can also manually move all or selected photos to SD Card by using File Explore, which is available on most Android phones. If File Explorer is not available, download ES File Explorer App from Google Play Store.

1. Open the File Explorer App on your Android Phone.

2. From the next screen, go to File Explorer > Device Storage > WhatsApp > Media > open WhatsApp Images Folder by tapping on it.

3. Once you are in WhatsApp Images Folder, tap on More and select the Edit option in the drop-down menu.

4. Next, select All or Specific Photos that you want to move to SD Card.

Note: You can select ‘Sent’ and ‘Private’ Folders, if you also want to transfer Sent WhatsApp Photos and Photos received or Shared in WhatsApp Groups.

5. Once the Photos are selected, tap on More and select the Move option in drop-down menu.

6. On the next screen, select SD Card as the new storage location for WhatsApp Photos on your Android Phone.

7. On the next screen, tap on Move Here option.

All the selected Photos will be move to SD Card.
