Fix: Verification Failed Error on iPhone or iPad

Users have reported various types of “Verification failed” error messages, while trying to login to iCloud or the App Store on iPhone or iPad.

Verification Failed Error on iPhone

The Verification Failed error messages on iPhone can occur due to a variety of reasons, ranging from a problem with Apple Servers, Corrupted or Incorrect Network Settings to other reasons.

In general, users have reported the following types of “Verification failed” error messages on iPhone.

  1. Verification Failed – There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server
  2. Verification Failed – connection to iCloud timed out
  3. Verification Failed – could not connect to server
  4. Verification Failed – request timed out

Before going ahead with other troubleshooting steps, visit Apple’s System Status page and make sure that all Apple Services linked to iCloud are working properly.

If there is a problem, you will have to wait for the problematic service to be fixed by Apple. If there is no problem, move to other troubleshooting steps.

1. Sign Out of Apple ID & Sign Back

If you are unable to Sign-in to App Store due to “Verification failed” error, the problem could be due to your Apple ID not being recognized.

Open Settings > tap on your Apple ID > scroll down and tap on Sign Out.

After 30 seconds, Sign back into your Apple ID and see if you can now Sign-in to the App Store.

2. Disable VPN

If you are using VPN, disable the VPN service on your iPhone and try to Sign-in to iCloud.

Go to Settings > VPN > move the toggle next to Status to OFF position.

After disabling VPN, you should be able to Sign-in to your Apple ID and App Store.

3. Shut Down iPhone & Restart

Shut Down iPhone by going to Settings > General > Shut Down. Allow iPhone to completely Power OFF > Wait for 30 seconds and then Restart iPhone by pressing the Power Button.

This will force close all the stuck Apps and Processes, which might be causing the problem on your iPhone.

4. Switch to Another WiFi Network

Switching from another WiFi Network (5G or Office Network) might help in fixing this problem.

Go to Settings > WiFi > tap on your WiFi network.

On the next screen, select 5G or another available network under My Networks section.

5. Forget WiFi Network & Rejoin

Note down your WiFi Password and follow the steps below to Forget WiFi Network and rejoin the Network.

Go to Settings > WiFi > tap on your WiFi network.

On the next screen, tap on Forget This Network option.

On the confirmation pop-up, tap on Forget to confirm.

Wait for 60 seconds > tap on your WiFi Network > enter WiFi Network Password to join the Networ

6. Reset Network Settings

Note down your WiFi Network Password and follow the steps below to Reset Network Settings on your iPhone to original or Factory Default settings.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > select Reset Network Settings option.

On the confirmation pop-up, tap on Reset Network Settings again confirm.

After this, connect your iPhone to WiFi Network again and see if the problem of iPhone not connecting to WiFi is gone.

7. Restart Modem/Router

In above steps did not help, switch OFF the Power Supply to your Modem/Router – Use the ON/OFF button (if available) or unplug the power cable from wall socket.

Wait for 60 seconds and switch ON the Power Supply to Modem/Router.

This process Resets the entire WiFi Network and is known to fix multiple network related problems on iPhone.
