Persistent Notifications feature in iOS allows you to keep notifications displayed on the Lock screen of iPhone, until you dismiss them. You will find below the steps to enable persistent notifications on iPhone or iPad.
Enable Persistent Notifications on iPhone
In general, notification previews only last for a few seconds on the lock Screen of iPhone and disappear rather quickly.
As you can imagine, this setup is not suitable on busy days where you may not have the time or the opportunity to keep track of notifications appearing on the Lock Screen of your iPhone.
On such busy days, you can make use of the persistent notifications feature in iOS to make the notifications remain for a longer time on the Lock Screen of your iPhone.
Unlike, regular notifications, Persistent Notifications stick around permanently on the Lock screen of iPhone and do not go away, until they are dismissed or manually swiped away by the user.
This ensures that you do not miss any important notifications on your iPhone.
Enable Persistent Notifications On iPhone
Persistent Notifications are not enabled by default on your iPhone or iPad and they need to enabled by going into the Settings App on your iOS device. Hence, follow the steps below to enable sticky or persistent Notifications on iPhone.
1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
2. On the Settings screen, tap on the Notifications option.
3. On the Notifications screen, scroll down and tap on the particular App for which you want to enable persistent notifications.
4. On the App’s notification settings screen, scroll down to the bottom of the screen until you see two phone icons labelled as “Temporary” and “Persistent”. Tap on the Persistent option to enable Persistent Notifications on iPhone for this particular App.
In case you are wondering, there is no option in iOS to apply Persistent Notifications at a Global Level or for all the Apps at once. Persistent Notifications can only be enabled for individual apps or for one App at a time.
Also, there is no way to quickly Enable Persistent Notifications On iPhone from the Control Center. You will have to do it using the Settings App, using steps as listed above.
