How to Get Back Missing Emoji Icon on iPhone Keyboard

If the Emoji Key is missing or has suddenly disappeared from the Keyboard of your iPhone, you won’t be able to spice up your conversations using Emojis.

In general, the most common reason for Emoji Icon missing on iPhone is due to the Emoji Keyboard being disabled during a software update or not appearing due to software related issues.

The Emoji Keyboard is also known to go missing from iPhone, when users switch back to Apple Keyboard, after using third-party and other language keyboards.

Restore Missing Emoji Keyboard on iPhone

In most cases, all that is required to restore the missing Emoji Keyboard on iPhone is to manually add back the Emoji Keyboard.

If you find that Emojis are missing, not appearing in suggestions or the Emoji keyboard itself is disappearing again, you should be able to fix the problem using other troubleshooting steps.

1. Manually Add Emoji Keyboard to iPhone

If the Emoji Key is missing on the virtual keyboard of your iPhone, the first step would be to manually add back the missing Emoji keyboard to your device.

1. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards.

2. On the Keyboards screen, select Add New Keyboard option.

3. On Add New Keyboard pop-up, scroll down and select the Emoji Keyboard.

Once you tap on Emoji, the Emoji Keyboard will be installed on your iPhone. This can be confirmed by taking a look at the keyboard, which should now display the missing Emoji key.

Now that Emoji Keyboard is back on your device, the next steps are designed to rule out the possibility of the Emoji keyboard disappearing again and fix the issue of Emojis missing or not appearing in suggestions on iPhone.

2. Enable Predictive Text

If you are expecting Emojis to be suggested by iPhone while typing, you need to enable the predictive Emoji feature on your device.

1. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard.

2. On the next screen, enable Predictive Text by moving the slider to ON position.

After this, you should find your iPhone suggesting Emoji’s as you are typing.

3. Re-install Emoji Keyboard

Re-installing the Emoji keyboard can help in fixing many problems associated with the Emoji keyboard.

1. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards.

2. On the next screen, tap on Edit and remove the existing Emoji Keyboard by tapping on the Red minus circle that appears in Editing mode.

3. After 30 seconds, select Add New Keyboard option.

4. On the next screen, tap on Emoji to add back the Emoji keyboard to your device.

After this, you should find the Emoji keyboard working properly on your iPhone.

4. Reset Keyboard Dictionary

Another troubleshooting step that is known to fix keyboard related problems is to Reset the Keyboard Dictionary.

1. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.

2. On the next screen, select Reset Keyboard Dictionary option.

This will erase all the words that iPhone has learnt from your typing and is known to fix keyboard problems on iPhone.

5. Disable Emoji Stickers

If you are bothered by the appearance of blank circles in Emojis, you can either disable the use of Stickers on your iPhone or use Stickers knowing that blank circles (if any) are placeholders for stickers.

1. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard.

2. Scroll down and disable Stickers by moving the toggle to OFF position.

After this, you should no longer find empty or blank circles appearing on Emoji keyboard.
