How to Transfer Photos From Android Phone to Mac

If you use an Android Phone as a mobile device and MacBook for computing, you might be interested in knowing whether or not it is possible to Transfer Photos from your Android Phone to Mac.

Luckily, using an Android Phone does not prevent or limit you in any way from transferring photos to Mac. In-fact, the same Photo Transfer utilities that are used to transfer photos from iPhone to Mac can also be used to transfer Photos from Android to Mac.

If you are an avid Android user or fan, you might be thinking in terms of transferring photos from Android to Mac by using Android File Transfer app, Google Photos and Google Drive.

However, macOS comes with its own robust set of native file and photo transfer utilities like Image Capture, Preview App and Photos App, which can easily get this job done; without the need to download and install any third-party tool.

1. Use Photos App to Transfer Photos from Android Phone to Mac

Perhaps the easiest way to transfer photos from an Android phone or Tablet to Mac is by using the native Photos App as available on a MacBook.

1. Connect Android Phone to Mac and open the Photos App on your Mac (If it is not already open).

2. In the Photos App, select your Android phone in the left-pane. In the right-pane, select the destination for Imported Photos on your Mac and click on Import All New Photos button.

If you are trying to transfer selected Photos, select the specific Photos that you want to transfer and click on Import Selected option.

3. Patiently wait for the selected photos to be transferred from the Android phone to Mac.

2. Use Image Capture to Import Photos from Android Phone to Mac

Another built-in macOS utility, which can transfer photos from an Android phone to Mac is Image Capture.

1. Connect Android Phone to Mac and open the Finder on your Mac.

2. On the Finder screen, click on Applications in the side-menu. In the right-pane, scroll down and click on Image Capture.

3. After Image capture is launched, select your Android phone in the left-pane. In the right-pane, select Desktop or other place as destination for imported photos and click on Import All button.

4. Patiently wait for all the photos to be transferred to your Mac.

Just like Photos App, image Capture allows you to select individual photos (by clicking on them) and transfer them to Mac by clicking on the Import option (Not Import All).

3. Use Preview App to Import Photos from Android Phone to Mac

The next tool built-in utility on a MacBook, which can be used to Import photos from an Android phone to Mac is the Preview App.

1. Connect Android Phone to Mac and open the Finder on your Mac.

2. On the next screen, click on Applications in side-menu. In the right-pane, scroll down and click on Preview App.

3. After the Preview App is launched, click on the File tab in the top-menu bar and select your Android device in the drop-down menu.

If you only want to transfer selected Photos, select the Photos that you want to transfer by clicking on them and click on the Import option.
