Turn OFF Push Notifications on iPhone
Push Notifications on iPhone and iPad appear in the form of banners appearing at the top of the screen, each time you receive a notification.
In general, push notifications on iOS devices can be classified into two types – Temporary and persistent.
- Temporary: These type of Push Notifications appear momentarily at the top of the screen and then disappear after about 3-4 seconds.
- Persistent: These type of Push Notifications remain on your screen and do not go away, until you interact with the notification.
While Push Notifications can be useful, they can sometimes be very annoying, making users look for a way to somehow Disable or Turn Off Push Notifications on iPhone.
Turn Off Push Notifications For Apps on iPhone or iPad
In case there are only certain Apps on your iPhone that bother you with unnecessary Push Notifications, you can follow the steps below to Turn OFF Push Notifications for such Apps on your iPhone or iPad.
1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
2. On the Settings screen, tap on Notifications.
3. On the Notifications screen, scroll down and tap on the app for which you want to Turn Off push Notifications on iPhone or iPad.
4. On the next screen, scroll down and toggle OFF the option for Show as banners located under Alerts section.
From now on, you will no longer be bothered by Push Notifications from this particular App.
In case there are more such busy Apps, you can Disable or Turn OFF Push Notifications for such Apps by repeating the above steps.
Turn Off Push Notifications On iPhone For all Apps
Unfortunately, there is really no option to Turn OFF Push Notifications on iPhone for all Apps. The only way to Turn Off Push Notifications on iPhone for all the Apps is to enable Do Not Disturb Mode on your device.
1. Open the Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen on your iPhone or iPad.
Note: In case you are using iPhone X, you will need to swipe down from the upper right side of your screen to launch Control Center.
2. Next, tap on the Do Not Disturb icon located in Control Center (See image bellow)
Note: Do Not Disturb Mode turns OFF all forms of Notifications and Alerts on your iPhone. Hence, make sure that you Disable Do Not Disturb Mode, as soon as you are done with your busy phase.
Change Push Notification Type on iPhone or iPad
Another way of dealing with Push Notifications on iPhone is to change the type of Push Notifications on your device, instead of completely disabling push notifications on your iPhone or iPad.
1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
2. On the Settings screen, scroll down and tap on Notifications
3. On the Notifications screen, tap on the app for which you want to change the Push Notification type.
