How to Download PDF Files to iPhone or iPad

If you have received an Email Message with PDF attachments, it is a better practice to download the attached PDF files to iPhone, instead of allowing the Email Message with PDF attachments being lost with other Email Messages.

This especially true, when you get single line email messages reading “See Attached” with all other information being available in the PDF File attached to the Email.

Another case where it becomes important to immediately download PDF Files to iPhone when the referenced PDF Files are located on iCloud, in which case there is always the possibility of the files being deleted or moved their location on iCloud.

You can find below the steps to download PDF Files attached to Email Messages to iPhone and also the steps download PDF Files from anywhere on the internet to iPhone.

1. Download PDF Files Using Safari Browser on iPhone

This method is suitable in case you come across a PDF File while surfing on the internet using the default Safari browser on your iPhone. The PDF file could be an eBook, User Manual, or a Recipe that a particular website has offered for Free download.

1. Open the Safari Browser on your iPhone and visit the website from which you want to download the eBook, Manual or any other material in PDF Format.

2. Once you find the PDF File, click on the download link and this will open the PDF File in Safari browser.

3. Once the PDF File opens, tap on the Share icon located in the bottom menu. If you cannot see the Share Icon, scroll down and make sure that you are on the cover page of the PDF File.

4. From the Sharing menu that appears, tap on the Books Icon to begin the process of downloading the PDF File to the Books App on your iPhone.

5. Once the PDF File is downloaded, you can access the Downloaded PDF File by opening the Books App on your iPhone and tapping on the Library tab in the bottom menu.

Note: The time to download will depend on the speed of your Wi-Fi and size of the downloaded File.

1. Save PDF Files From Email Attachments to iPhone

1. Open the Email containing the PDF file attachment on your iPhone.

2. Tap on the attached PDF file to open it on your iPhone.

3. Once the PDF file is open, tap on the Share icon located at bottom-left corner of the screen.

4. From the Sharing Menu that appears, select Save to Files option.

5. On the next screen, you can select On My iPhone to save the PDF File to the Local storage of your iPhone or select iCloud Drive to save the File to your iCloud Drive Account.

You will be able to access the PDF File that you had downloaded from Email Attachment at any time by going to Files opening the Books App and tapping on the Library tab in Books App.
