It is possible to Use Signal on a mobile phone without Phone Number or an active SIM card using two methods as provided below.
Use Signal Without Phone Number or SIM Card
Similar to WhatsApp, Signal Private Messenger requires its users to provide phone number and verify the phone number by entering a Six-digit verification code.
This practically means that a functioning Phone Number which can receive SMS Text messages and phone calls is required to create Signal Private Messenger Account.
However, it is still possible to create a Signal Account without providing your main phone number and this can be done by using a VOIP Number or a Landline Number during the verification process.
Note: If you have already verified Signal, delete your current number from Signal by uninstalling the app and reinstalling it back again on your phone.
Method #1. Verify Signal Using Google Voice, Skype or TextNow
This method involves using Google Voice or TextNow Number to verify Signal Account, instead of using your main phone number.
Both Google Voice and Skype provide phone numbers that can receive SMS Messages within USA. While Google Voice is free to use, Skype charges a monthly fee.
All that is required to Get Free Google Voice Number is to sign up for Google Voice using your Gmail Account. Similarly, you can sign up for Skype Account using your Microsoft Account.
Another option is to order TextNow SIM Activation Kit and use TextNow Number to complete Signal verification process.
Once you get a Google Voice, TextNow or Skype Number, you can follow the steps below to use Signal Without Phone Number or SIM Card.
Step#1. Download & Install Signal Private Messenger
Download Signal Private Messenger App on your Android Phone from Google Play Store. If you are using an iPhone download the App from the App Store.
Follow the instructions to Install Signal Messanger on your mobile device and provide the App with permissions to access your Contacts and send you notifications.
Step#2. Verify Signal By Entering Six-Digit Verification Code
On the next screen, select Country > Enter Google Voice Phone Number and tap on Next to receive a Six-digit verification code on this Phone Number.
Note: As mentioned above, you can also use Skype or SIM Activated TextNow Phone Number.
Open Google Voice to receive the Verification Code from Signal and Enter the Verification Code on this screen.
Once your Google Voice phone number is verified, you can start using Signal on your phone, even if it does not have its own Phone Number and a functioning SIM Card.
Method #2. Verify Signal Using Landline Phone Number
While it is possible to get Google Voice Phone Number from outside United States, we are not sure if this can be used to verify Signal Account.
In our testing, we were unable to verify Signal using Free TextNow Phone Number. Hence, the only option that might work in your area is to use your Landline Phone Number to verify Signal Account.
Step#1. Download & Install Signal Private Messenger
Download Signal Private Messenger App on your Android Phone from Google Play Store. If you are using an iPhone download the App from the App Store.
Follow the instructions to Install Signal Messenger on your mobile device and provide the App with permissions to access your Contacts and send you notifications.
Step#2. Verify Signal Using Landline Phone Number
On the next screen, select Country > Enter your Landline Phone Number and tap on Next.
On the next screen, wait for 60 seconds and tap on I didn’t get a code.
In the pop-up menu, select Call Me Instead option and wait for Signal to send an automated call to your Landline Phone Number.
Receive the Call on your Landline > Note down your Six-digit security code and enter the Code to verify your Phone Number.
Once your Landline Phone Number is verified, you can start using Signal on your iPhone or Android Phone, even if it does not have its own Phone Number or SIM Card.
